Animal Care Assistant

Position Details: Chickens, alpacas, goats, a pair of rambunctious geese, and of course our beloved farm cats, Patch and Vader: these are the animals that call the Eco-Justice Center home. Our animal residents provide us with eggs, fiber, manure, educational opportunities, and plenty of laughs. We return the favor by providing them the best lives possible trough compassionate care. If you find working with animals rewarding and are interested in a long term position, then volunteering as an Animal Care Assistant may be right for you!

As an Animal Care Assistant you will have the opportunity to work alongside Eco-J staff to help provide essential daily care for the animals that reside on our farm. Daily tasks include providing food and water, gathering eggs, cleaning and mucking out living spaces, walking goats and alpacas to their pastures, and providing enrichment through grooming and interaction.

Animal Care Assistants work a set schedule of 1 morning per week, starting at 7:30am and ending around 9:30am. We ask that interested volunteers commit to this position for at least 3 months so that proper training can be provided

Mornings when help is needed: Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, & Fridays

 

Building and Grounds Assistant

Positions Details: A lot of hard work goes into maintaining our historic farm and we are always looking for dedicated volunteers with a diverse set of skills. Whether you’re a master carpenter, a novice mechanic, or are just looking to cruise on the riding mower while listening to the ballgame, we would love to have you as part of our Building and Grounds Team!

As a Buildings and Grounds Assistant you will have the opportunity to put your skills to work alongside our dedicated staff and volunteers. Our areas of need include painting, carpentry, general cleaning, small engine maintenance, and basic lawn care. This is a flexible position that allows you to volunteer your time as your schedule allows..
